In a situation like this we would probably try to send the inspector that was closest to the property. That way we don't necessarily need to charge but also aren't out to much for a longer trip.

I personally recommend having this service done. When scheduling we give the guidelines on when we would recommend to have this service added. At my personal home we have had tree roots grow into ours. When we bought the home none of these services were recommended and I wish they had been. I share this information with buyers and let them decide whether it is something they would like to add.

We have had issues with some of the ancillary services we provide. Some agents don't feel like we should do anything but look at the home. This particular incident was because we scoped the sewer lateral line. We found issues and the listing agent didn't agree that we should even offer that service.
