Are you responsive?

If you are not responsive, you should be. What I mean by that is that if your website is only geared for desktops, you need to get it updated to work equally well on both desktops and mobile devices (a.k.a. responsive). That desktop ship has sailed and you need to be able to accommodate both desktop heavy users and mobile heavy users.

And, by the way, this goes beyond websites. If you use email stationary, it should be the same in my opinion (although there are challenges with being compatible with all email platforms such as webmail including but not limited to Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc.). Not too long ago, I got some email stationary created to work with ISN and Outlook and haven't been happy with it because of the "responsive" issue. I still use the stationary, but I wish I would have put more thought into the design so it would work well with both desktops and mobile devices. Just food for thought.

I have read what you are saying, but I hate responsive websites. I took a poll on my Facebook about a year ago and everyone who responded also did not like them. To each his own.

What did they not like about them?

From my experience and poll, people don't like how limited it is. Many people agreed that they just scroll around looking for the "desktop version" button. I always look for that button, and it could be that only people who agreed with me commented, but that is how I made my decision to not get a responsive website.

It's like QR codes in my opinion. They sound really cool and trendy on paper, but no one actually likes or uses it.

I am no expert though. Just sharing my experience.

Interesting. I'm kind of the opposite. I prefer something that responds to the device I'm on. I agree on the QR code thing. It's easier just to "OK Google" it, Siri it, or whatever.

I couldn't agree more. Mobile versions suck and some sites strip down their features and force you to use them. Some even do it on larger tablets, it's a pain.

I actually agree with the OP in that if you provide a mobile version, it should be nearly equal in the experience it provides the user. There is nothing I hate more than a mobile site forcing itself on me and it's just a list of buttons, page after page.

I've got no issues with the forum on mobile. Most of my posts were done on mobile.

Hey, I'm with you, but people want it for whatever reason.

What I think would be really cool, and I'm going to see if my programmer can get this done, would be to have your IP address tracked so once you hit that desktop button it is automatically set as your preference. Nothing bugs me more than hitting the same site over and over again or it reverting when I hit a link.

So here's an awesome trick for everyone with an iPhone that prefers desktop sites...

Juan, are you mostly on a tablet as your mobile device or when using BAM?
