I have been lax lately about sending my Monday Morning Motivator email blasts. I finally dropped Constant Contact at $30/mo and exported my CC agents into ISN. Had been putting it off for months, as I dread computer work. It was easier than I thought and ISN's mass email feature is very easy to use and I am saving $30/mo..

So I sent out a mass email overnight and at 6:30 this am I got a request for an insp'n from a 1st time agent that I met a few months ago at a Lunch and Learn I sponsored. A few hours later I scheduled a $577 inspection with her.

Moral of story: We must keep our name out there in many different ways.

And, USE as many features of the ISN as you can. The possibilities are endless, as it seems Chris has thought of everything!

The Monday morning motivator is one of my greatest marketing tools. It's $20 a month at icontact.

Nice Pete. How do you get around you email provider seeing it as spam. ISN sends using your email client right. I have tried with outlook snd after 50 emails i start getting all of them back.

ISN takes care of the whole process. Go on their website and check it out. They have it all figured out to be easy for you.

STOP trying to do everything yourself!

Why just Mondays?

When my wise old grandmother was helping me set up my very first business in 1966 (she was 56 and I was 11), she cautioned me to do advertising and marketing each and every day. Regardless of what industry I was in (computer sales, word processing, pool/spa construction, Realtor, HVAC, roofer, etc.), I have always done that. Every day. Seven days a week. That practice has gotten me through the oil bust of the early 1980s in Houston, the savings & loan scandals of the early 1990s, the Great Recession, and several smaller economic downturns, times which always saw many of my competitors go out of business.

My protocol right now is my 10-10-10 system. Each day I contact 10 past Clients, 10 Realtors I have worked with in the past, and 10 Realtors/attorneys with whom I have not worked. I keep extremely busy with that system.

My husband is a Realtor, so I have access to all past MLS listings as well as the membership of the MLS, about 17,000 right now.

10-10-10 allows me to reach lots of people each week without any server or system seeing me as a spammer or anything like that. On the other hand, if I sent out 210 emails, someone's server is going to see me as a spammer, even if I know all the Realtors. If I sent out 210 postcards in one day, some receptionist or mail clerk somewhere is going to make sure that nothing I ever send to that office again reaches its recipients. Illegal, yes, to interfere with delivery of the U.S. mail, but good luck trying to prove anything.

Russell, your insights are really appreciated. Simple, easy to implement. Do you personally execute the 10 system or have an ass't do it?

How are you tracking it? BAM?

What is your system to have a road map of where the 10 system is headed? To avoid duplicate messages, etc.?

I have been a one-man shop since July 1, 2008, so I do everything myself. I'm an expert at marketing and in using Excel, Word, and Photoshop. From October 2001 to June 2008, I had anywhere from 2 to 9 employees. All were employees and not 1099 contracts. I did that specifically so that I could get them to help with office work, marketing, and such if they weren't out doing inspections.

I am working on doing an email campaign to agents using automated web software to send it out so I don't have to. It's like what is done in ISN but I find with ISN there is a lot to be desired in this area.

I'm no expert but I don't see much if anything lacking in the mass email feature.

I come from an internet marketing background and compared to other options it is lacking. I've only seen one person in the home inspection industry using powerful internet marketing tools that every home inspector should be using and that's Dom with Home Inspector Pro

I'll have to take some issue at least with the part about "powerful internet marketing tools that every home inspector should be using." There are many ways to market oneself and one's services. I always tell my marketing Clients to pick three methods and do them to the exclusion of all else, persistently and consistently.

As Warren Buffet says, "If someone is doing something, do something else."

I guess that's why I got 84 inspections last year from using them; others in my area aren't

As I said, though, there are many, many ways to market onself. I got 152 inspections last year from my Referral Rewards Program
which has absolutely nothing to do with the Internet.

So now is the time to start being unique! Past time, really.
