I use Home Gauge, for being new to the business, I like the services they provide. The online scheduler and online agreement help me out with dealing with potential clients.

Whisper computer solutions, I have used since they wrote it. The owners Larry and Eric are awesome. The abolition of the software is amazing and I run everything through it. I do home inspection, 10 yr insurance warranty inspections, WDI inspections, all WDI treatments docs, usda, fha, septic well,, commercial buildings, phase inspections and a few other inspections. I run my software on servers and my employees can hit the software remotely. It is the most comprehensive software out there. Many people overlook it because you have to modify it for your use and so often they think there is not much to it.

This software is endless and you can just about run any business out of, criterium engerneering uses it to run all of their national franchises through this product. Www.whispersolutions.com

I wouldn't ever consider any software that isn't integrated fully with the largest vendor in the industry.

Luckily ISN makes it happen for most regardless.

I use the inspect It- but it has been extensively modified for my use

I am also trying out Home Inspector Pro now but haven't really started using it

Horizon send me a link to try it but its pretty expensive.

I am in the same boat. I have been using AHIT InspectIt forever and I have it perfect and can blow through it even with all the time it takes to add 50+ photos (I know don't kill me). I bought HIP at the Power User Conference in September and have been slowly putting together my template. Hopefully I will have it set by March and I can have everyone trained on it by April.

The one thing I noticed is I can't over think anything with HIP. It is just so easy I feel like I am doing something wrong. The only thing I do not like about it in comparison to InspectIt is it can lack detail. It provides the client with less information as to what is correct in their home. I guess overall the typical client does not have much of an expectation and will likely never read the report outside of the summary page. I just have this idea in my head that every report should have tons of information. Likely I am providing way to much information.

Jeff, you must be the author of the Rapid Remarks library which comes with the software.

I have wrote some of the rapid remarks, i do a lot of their beta testing as well. There are some great software packages out there for sure and i have tried a couple of them. Whats nice about this is how much you can do with it if you spend some time setting it up. I like that everything i do from draw inspections, 2-10, FHA, Termite Treatments, wells, septics, phase, WDI, Commercial buildings, etc, etc is all in one software and only one back up for everything. I also like the fact me and my employee's can be operating the software at the same time working on separate reports across the network.

Many of the features built in to it such as short cut keys and the larger characters to create other docs and so forth are from me working with Larry & Eric on this software. One other feature that is great with this is that it prints my contracts, work order bill/receipt and thank you letters that then can be sent to the agents (i been to busy to send lately) It allows you to integrate pictures with canned comments so when you select canned comments the picture automatically is placed in the report (see below) with your comment. This is really helpful since i do use a lot of pics from the codes or say from the manufactures specs in my report, this is especially helpful with agents and builders that always want to argue. When they complain you said this or you said that my response is no i did not the manufacture of the product said it i just pointed you to the info. lol

I have tried most of the software listed and each has their pro and cons. Home Gauge is the easiest out of the box. HIP has the best support. With that said both have room for improvement. Home Gauge needs to work on their compatibility with other services and Apple hardware. HIP needs to simplify to make the user experience easier. Tap Inspect is the most promising new software but is limited to the iPad and development is slow. Nathan there is room for a better software to take over the industry.

I tried them all, have settled on EZ Home Inspection, Windows based, easily customized, one time price, set up on as many devices as you want, use a Dell Windows tablet in the field, upload the report via Microsoft One Drive or any other service, finish the report on my desktop.

I recall InterNACHI had an Inspection Software "Throwdown" which was good. I think ISG should perhaps have a webinar which allows four or five software providers to show off their software and take questions, and most importantly, make special offers to webinar attendees!

Any chance of getting this put together?

I have tried most of the inspection softwares out there. I have started using Spectacular, app based, I can do the report on site and send it out before I leave. I really like the software and they took all my old libraries and added them to my app.

I started with 3D years ago. It crashed my computer and was expensive fees. I've been with HG for 6 years. Love it. Totally customizable. Use a full windows version tablet start to finish. FYI. I have heard good about 3D in recent years, but am very happy with HG. I don't know if there is a great difference between any of them.

I don't have a lot of ancillary services, so I have only one template.
I like "Work View" where the items appear in the same sequence I actually perform; then with one click it re-arranges the items into the order the State requires.
I also use "Report Merge" where my assistant and I work on separate items, and afterward "merge" our separate entries into a consolidated final report.
I like as the "Rapid Remark" and "Picklist" lists become longer and longer, I can set-up a cascading display so they still all fit on the screen without searching and scrolling.
And then there is "Cloaking" where items are kinda "greyed-out," not to appear in the report, unless you uncloak it with one click.

alas, no RecallChek (yet but yes ISN.
