Hello,

We got a house inspected today following conclusion of attorney review. The house is beauty and we're novice. During the inspection, the inspector pointed out that the house foundation is sitting on concrete retaining wall.

The backyard is at 30-40 degree slope and the retaining wall is at least a foot tall.

If this is not the right place, please redirect my request to the correct section.

Thank you!

Dave:
30-40 degrees slope is pretty steep (I presume descending). The retaining wall may have been required since the bottom of the house foundation footing imaginary line at 45 degrees would daylight through the slope. Did the inspector think the retaining wall was an issue? The below link should help explain the daylight theory.

Thank you.
