The best "text book" examples of hail damage that I have seen in years. The stones that hit this house must have been at least 2inches or larger in diameter. The dings/dents in the roof are quarter size and larger. I smell a homeowners insurance claim coming...

Your pic looked like a thin board, not a truss member.

I have handled more dimensional lumber in near-darkness b4 you were born than you have in broad daylight since you were born.

you have to admit that your orig pic looked like a 1x.
Too-close up on things can omit a lot of the contrast needed to make sense of something for the viewer.

I recommended to contact a structural engineer, they said they did and he sistered the truss. I don't see anything wrong with sistering a truss, customer just wanted me to go check that it was actually done. I just confirmed it was repaired.
Is there something wrong with sistering a truss? I did it in my house when I found a busted one.

No, nothing wrong with repairing a truss. They break every day being delivered and installed.
Don't get in the habit of referring to an engineer. When you do that the customer wonders why they hired you.
Engineers are rarely needed for existing houses. They usu cost as much as or more than your HI.
I don't think any lic'd engineer repaired that. They make too much to even know how to set up and use prof'l tools.
Sistering with staggered 16s on a very healthy overlap is how most engineered repairs are instructed to be done.
A pair of through-bolts would not cut it on new construction when dynamic live loads are being applied and taken away for several days or even a week or 3 and dead loads are being steadily added.
In this case, far after the fact, it really should not mount to a hill of beans.

Just to cover my ass in the report I referred to engineer, if the seller actually did or not I have no idea, but I'm cool with how it was fixed and didn't see it as being an issue, glad I'm not the only one that thinks that's OK.
