Hello, I have been interested in getting into home inspection for a while now but I am unsure how I will be able to do it with current offshore job which is 3 weeks home and 3 weeks on the rig.I have 8 years commercial construction experience prior to me getting into the oilfield and I currently help my uncle remodel homes part. I'm trying to get out of the oilfield so for now it will be part time until I can get business on the regular. My wife can receive calls and schedule appointments while i am on the rig but my main concern is losing lots of business because it may be up to 3 weeks before I will be able to do an inspection. Are most appointments scheduled within a couple days after a client has contacted you? Thank you for any information.

Sorry, that won't work in most areas. Inspection or option periods written into the real estate contracts range from 5 days (very short) to 15 days. And most buyers or agents rarely like waiting until the last minute to complete the inspections.

If tell someone that they have to wait 3 weeks, it may as well be next year in their eyes.

In my market, if an inspection is scheduled more than 3 days out, the client often will call back to cancel after having found someone who can get to it faster.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Hire someone to work with you while you are here. Get them trained and have them handle inspecting while you are away. It may take a while before the other person can go solo depending on the person, but eventually you will have a solid business and able to take on even more jobs with two of you splitting up while you are here.
