Footings and perimeter drain (pics - new construction)

Hello All,

New to the forum... my wife and I are building a new home. They've just installed the footings and foundation walls on the basement level. We noticed 5 areas of the footing that have jagged chunks missing. We were concerned that these were air bubbles created when the cement was poured and sent pictures to the saleswoman and our buyer's agent. Our buyer's agent is also concerned about these areas and is currently working on getting in touch with builder's he knows as well as our local building department to check on this issue. The saleswoman talked to the VP and told us that these were by design and that the perimeter drain will go through these 5 areas. We are not fully convinced that these areas are intentional, as they are jagged and all different shapes. Does anyone know if this is normal for the perimeter drain to go through the footing? Those photos sure look like improper consolidation of concrete to me. I would recommend that the building construction documents engineer/designer be consulted to determine if these voids meet the intent of the design - I seriously doubt it.
