I have a detached garage that is sided with Masonite 12" lap siding. The siding is currently in good condition, however, it is no longer available for any future repair. There were lawsuits over the high failure rate of the product. Anyways, I plan to sell my home and wonder if a Professional Inspector would flag the Masonite siding on the garage for a prospective home buyer. Consequently, I'm wondering if I should just re-side the garage with something simple/inexpensive such as reverse board batten plywood siding to avoid these potential hassles when trying to sell.
Any thoughts, comments would be appreciated.

I am familiar with the Masonite issues. However, if the siding is kept painted and joints caulked it does perform pretty well. I'd leave it and see what happens.
Thank you.

Keep those edges painted to help prevent water adsorption and it can last a long time.

The inspector is very likely to call it out- that being said, if it is without defect it would just be a thing to watch out for for the new buyer. So far as residing goes, I would wait and see if a buyer (at the right price of course) insists on it. It could be the thing that makes you a cooperative seller if you're willing to do so and gets you to the closing table!

Masonite was very common in some parts of the country. Its likely that buyers in those parts of the country wouldn't feel that the presence of Masonite in and of itself would be a problem if it was in acceptable condition.
