Hey guys!
What's your opinion of Pushmatic Load Centers? Scouring the net for information and I find conflicting arguments. I think this is maybe the 3rd time I have seen these. I'm working on this report late due to having other obligations tonight. Any facts (or opinions) are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Bull-Dog Push-Matic breakers don't have a history serious problems. However, the breakers do tend to fail as they get older; usually when operated. I have seen where the branch circuit conductors get connected to the breaker attachment screw instead of the protected lug so look for that.

I would recommend upgrade to a modern, safer panel and breakers. The main reason is 40-50 years is the service life expected of in-service breakers according to the manufacturers.

Thank you.

That was pretty much the direction I went with my comment. i did include that Pushmatic is no longer manufactured and parts are found online but are usually more expensive. The comment also included modern safety features are not available such as GFCI or AFCI.

In FL, we have many carriers who want the panel upgraded after 40 years, regardless of manufacturer
