I'd be much appreciative if someone could provide a link for a quick study on generators, when it comes to electrical inspections. I've got an inspection scheduled this week for a historic home, mobile home and a barn. Electric fencing for several horses. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Michael:
For a backup generator system (or even if it is the primary power) I would recommend that they get an expert to inspect it. There are so many variables with generators, connections, transfer switches and whether the system is separately derived or not best left to an electrician or generator installer.

Thanks Mike Casey. If you read this again, can you please tell me the other type of report that was once used other than checklist or narrative? It's a typed out report that states everything, much like an engineering style of report.

Sounds like a narrative to me if all typed out.
Many reports these days are combo checklist and narrative.

Gotcha. It was like a narrative - punch list combo but I guess that doesn't work anymore. Below is a quick version of what I was talking about:
Dear Mr. Casey,
I inspected the property at 1234 someplace, somewhere on Tuesday 09/06/2016. I arrived at 8:00 a.m. and left at 11:00 a.m. The roof is due for replacement over the next 5 years. The electrical inspection revealed double tapping at the main (see picture below). I recommend having a qualified / licensed plumbing contractor familiar with polybuteline piping further evaluate the plumbing lines. ..........

Below sounds more like a summary, but it could work for a report. The issue is making sure you describe components, such as comp roof, wood framing, concrete foundation, etc.
