All this extra, "beyond SOP," stuffs scares me; as I've said, my Inspections take me long enough already. I can't argue; it's all good stuff. If it makes me more competitive, then I'm sure it can work out (with tips from y'all.)

back to the question...
Septic systems.
Documenting floor elevations. [I know how to do it, have the equipment (level, laser tape measure...) but not sure how to incorporate it into my "offered services."]

I have a great level to show you at the PowerUser Conference Philo- but to your point about "Beyond SOP", I'm going to start a new thread on that topic. For the purposes of this thread, any course is on the table. We can lay out the buffet, you get to choose what to eat.

why would you want to check elevation on a septic system, Philo? What good would you do you/anyone if you don't have the perc data?

William, those were two different subjects. I meant taking house floor slab data for foundation evaluation.

How about having Mike perform a plumbing inspection on a couple of different properties and then combining them into one awesome educational video.

Anyways,

-Fieldstone (Early-Mid 1900's) foundation inspection.
-Mold Certification.
-Electrical panels, just what you need to know as an inspector not an inspector telling me how smart they are and at the end telling me I don't need to know all that.
-Attic inspection in clod weather climates.
-Grading and water management (gutter sizing, etc).
-Back to the basics. A nice refresher to highlight some of the basics we learned but have not talked about for a longtime.

What I don't want like I said in Electrical is a bunch of over the top crap that is overwarming and I don't need to know and is over the top. To much great basic to intermediate knowledge (that's us) is lost when these fat heads of knowledge blab on and on apparently to prove they know more then the people in front of them. As an instructor in adult education I see myself as a servant to the students. The last Vegas conference is a great example of how you can take three days to teach and use it to waste my time.

I feel for you man. I once worked for a remodeling company and we were doing jobs on pitches from 4/12 - 21/12 (Scary stuff). We used Roof Jacks and Planks on very steep roofs. I took a scary slide almost over the edge of a church. That was around 25 years ago and it still scares me thinking of going on a roof that steep again. I believe that I would have to pass on a roof that steep again. However, I would use my camera pole, in a second.

-Stay Safe.
