Hoping for new software vendors.

I know I may be in the minority. Everybody loves "their" software. But I am really hoping there are some new software vendors in the not too distant future. What would you like to see added to your report software?

Sounds like HIP to me

I like a lot of platforms- but you sir have described the latest version of HIP.

HIP being Home Inspector Pro: the greatest software on the planet.

We currently use HG but also own HIP. Maybe it's time to try it again.

I would like an EASY way to mark an item as Minor or Major so they are grouped like that in Summary.

HIP does not offer this.

Unless you want minor items to show up in the summary.

In HIP mobile you simply tap the narrative once for minor items and it is highlighted green. In my reports any minor items show up blue (this can be customized).

For major items I just tap the narrative again and it gets highlighted in red. Any red items are then automatically put into the summary at the end of the report.

Easy

Pete you can make a summary with the major items listed in HIP. It won't show the minor things, but thats for the report.

In Whisper, comments from your Comment Library can be "pre-tagged" as Minor or Major, and will automatically go to your Summary in the appropriate Minor or Major grouping you have set-up. If not pre-tagged, (new, or not from your Library,) then you tag them once they are in the report body. (Tagging your first new comment entails: hi-liting, hit "Tag" button, select "Minor" or "Major" from the drop-down. Tagging thereafter would entail: hi-liting, F11.)

C'mon think BIG. Here is what I want. Google Glass compatible.
It will work like this as an example; enter a room and upon testing an outlet you find an open ground, you would simply, take picture with Google Glass, speak "open ground in Living Room", picture and comment would then auto populate that part of report with a comment you have in the template, on to next item. TTT method I use now but with auto report fill in at the home. That would be fast.

Does the latest version of HIP do online viewing? My complaints with HG are mainly with their lack of openness and customer service. I do like the online viewing, and love the find next features so I know everything in the report is complete. This keeps us compliant with all the state requirements.

There's an inspector/report-vendor out of Houston selling "hands-free" software, not far from your vision. (This was introduced some 10 yrs ago, but didn't make it for some reason; and this guy bought the rights or whatever.) To be honest, it looks worth trying, but the guy rubbed me the wrong way when he tried to lecture me on "the buyer is the client, not the agent..." when I brought up the subject of Summaries; he then added the ol' "I don't do Summaries b/c I want them to read the whole report" crap. And I also had to school him on at least one aspect of TREC report-writing rules. (He was at the Orlando conference last spring.)
