Odd, I didn't see the added value and deleted the dedicated page I had on my website yesterday without having seen this post. NO ONE IS CALLING MY CLIENTS AND SELLING THEM ANYTHING! I want to run a clean/streamlined business that people rely on and appreciate! Thanks for the info Nathan I am sincerely appreciative.

No problem. Whenever I arrange a great Canadian alarm system offer, I may reach out to you personally to adjust the "anything" part of that, but I am not a fan of calling anyone and selling them "everything". I wouldn't appreciate it myself.

If I don't know the person I ask 2 questions once the formality of hello is over. I ask do I know you and are you trying to sell me something... then it results in a click followed by a dial tone. lol I am even on the do not call list in Canada and they still call

More Desperation from Home Owners Network, now putting lies in writing. I was wrong before, I don't feel sorry for him:

Check this out:

This is Kevin O'Malley from the Home Owners Network wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving and upcoming holiday cheer!

Myself, Mike Casey, Pat Norton and Scott Forde started this program because we believe it brings great value to home owners and home inspectors. We are currently in our third year and have many loyal supporters.

It has come to my attention that a competitor of ours is once again spreading false information about HON and what we do with client information.

First let me say that no changes have been or will be made to any existing inspector's HON accounts unless specifically requested by the inspector. All existing inspector users remain free and unchanged. No calls have been made or will be made to any clients. All changes to an inspector's accounts must be authorized by the inspector.

New inspector HON accounts are subject to approval and fees will be discussed with new inspector users. Discounts and complimentary accounts are available to users of our current approved vendors like Home Inspector Pro, Inspection Support Network, HomeGauge, etc.

Any other rumors or information you may have heard, read or gossiped is not true. Everything on the internet is not true.

Please feel free to call and discuss any part of our newest program enhancements or email me at KOMalley@homeownersnetwork.com

The enhancements mentioned below are FREE to current users. We have several pilot programs we are starting with inspectors that we believe will bring income to inspectors from the HON program. Those will be announced when they are ready.

HON is proud to announce Recall Alerts are now available to all inspectors currently using our program. Please send your request directly to me.

Recall Alerts: is a HON system. It is an optional feature NOT automatically installed on inspector accounts.

We have our own recall program built into the new HON member accounts (available only as an option to inspectors) Our program is very different from the others. Where others are an inspector driven system, ours is a member driven system, meaning the member enters any appliances and gets instant results of any current recalls. Plus those entered appliances are perpetually monitored for future recalls and the member is notified of any new recall alerts.

The number and types of appliances allowed to be monitored is much larger and we believe the accuracy is equal to other systems.

Two other key differences are 1) Inspectors do not spend the extra time entering appliances on site or taking photos and sending. 2) Real estate deals are not held up because a client thinks the recalled appliance should be replaced before they move in. Numerous agents told us they hate when a buyer requests a recalled appliance be replaced before they own the home. These could be viewed as advantages or disadvantages depending upon who you speak with. This is an option the inspector decides and we understand many inspectors utilize a competing product and can leave the recall portion off. It is only turned on at the inspector's request. It would be FREE in an inspectors account if requested.

Contractor Search: There are three different contractor search systems included in the HON program: 1) Redbeacon by Home Depot (all independent verified contractors) 2) Contractor Connection (the largest contractor network in the nation doing 7 out of 10 repair jobs for insurance companies) 3) The inspector's recommendations (YES, you enter your own preferred contractors for your clients to have instant access to their information) We built our service on providing "Live technical support for home owners". We do not work for anyone but our members. We look for the best possible services for our members. We do not spam our members, we do not sell our members information and we have never called our members with a sales pitch for alarms or anything else.

I am happy to demonstrate a member account for you showing you all the items discussed above. This brochure shows you everything that can be available to your client including the OPTIONAL recall alert system (the only thing missing in this brochure is the inspector's contractor referral section).

Call me anytime to talk about anything.

Sincerely,
Kevin O'Malley
Director of Membership
Home Owners Network

The problem with all of this is that since I started this post I've heard from multiple inspectors and even have quite the opposite in writing, from Kevin himself. If anyone wants it, email me at Nathan@Nathan.tv.

Or you can just drop HON like a bad habit and call it a day

Now from multiple sources:

HON will cost money on January 1st. ($800 seems to be the consensus)

If you want it to cost less, you can give all your client data to HON to have a OneSource representative call them for a "Welcome Call" where nothing is being sold...yeah right.

Just tell Kevin right now if he wants you to participate, the market rate for these leads is well established and has been for 15 years. $20 per submission.

I got the same one. Here is the fact for me . No one has ever mentioned since I started using HON, wow what a great idea or I sent a picture with a question and got a response, I love that app. in fact no one has mentioned it in any fashion. While I get feed back on Sewer Gard, Recall Chek, HON is a ghost.

Good Enough for me.
I'm certainly not the ISN expert, but seemed easy enough:
In ISN, go to "Settings" /"OfficeSettings" /"WorkingOtherApplications"/ "HON"
Turn off or Cancel Link

So, Nathan, did you decide HON was no longer compliant with your programs before or after you found out they were going to start a similar recall program?

I have removed them from my auto ISN connection, sent an email to cancel my account and taken down my webpage that was dedicated to them. I see no value in even the possible fear that they could call my clients. I see angry clients for selling their information. It goes against every ethical boundary I have. It should be choice and the choice could be as simple as a check mark in my online scheduling account with ISN. Nonetheless not doing it!

They've had that for a long time. It's actually not a "recall program", it's a useless portal to the CPSC just like hundreds out there. Never been a concern of mine nor have I ever lost a client to it- you can just send clients to recalls.gov and accomplish the same thing. Even ASHI has that link.

A portal link hardly signifies a competitive program

The compliance issue, which is what this is all about and has Kevin losing his mind and sending out contradictory, hasty statements is this simple:

HON, whether we're talking about the version now or the version that is proposed to start in January where a OneSource representative calls all your clients and tries to sell them everything (and you don't get compensated for such) is that both violate the terms and conditions for anyone on our Alarm Leads Program, which today stands at around half of our clients and probably 90%+ of theirs.

You can't get compensated or have free services delivered to a client and then present them, passively or aggressively with a similar offer. That wouldn't make sense and candidly it would confuse buyers and cause complaints.

It has all the inaccuracies and deficiencies of other portals, which we sought to correct and did so starting in 2008/2009.

They claim to have more recalls on file, but that's patently false. They're missing a huge portion of what is installed in homes by default, but they're adding into that everything that a CPSC portal offers (dolls, cribs, toasters, etc.)

Not to mention the biggest downfall- no one will ever use it. Their one selling point is all that time it takes you on site, but we have that down to moments with the RecallChek App- it's just taking a few photos. If you hand your clients a link to a website and tell them to do it themselves you may as well just hand them your flashlight and outlet tester too and say "good luck"!
