Has anyone seen this before? The secondary condensate drain doesn't dump into the pan, but rather bypasses it.

Kris:

Yes, that's okay. The secondary connects direct to the drain. The drained protection pan is there in the event the internal pan or other part in the air handler leaks. These days I recommend a float cut out switch as an upgrade consideration.

Thanks.

I have seen this also, the main objective is that if you see water discharging at that pipe, it needs service.

Looking at the photo again there is a float cutout switch on the pan. Lots of protection.

A very nice setup. Not often seen. Those nice features, when pointed out in person, make the diff between a satisfied buyer and a somewhat satisfied buyer.

A few minutes spent talking about nice functional upgrades goes far toward client satisfaction and confidence.
