Which Camera to buy?

Hello, I'm looking to buy a thermal camera and wanted some recommendations on which brand and model I should get. I'm hoping to keep the price around $1000 for my first camera but am willing to go higher if needed.

The Flir C2 is a good place to start.

Agree w/ Erik. I use the C2 everyday. I also have the Flir One, and the E60.

Yep, I too use the FLIR C2.

Could someone expound a bit on why the C2 works for them. I see a lot of posts saying it works great for them, but not much about specifically how it helps. While I want to move to doing Infrared, I am looking for equipment that is effective for the scope of a home inspection. Or maybe just direct me to some posts that do expound more on the device. Thanks!

There are two different but related directions to go with using Infrared on home inspections: 1.) Include IR on all of your inspection as a Unique Selling Point and bring added value to the customer by providing some additional peace of mind in answering more questions about the home 2.) Charge an additional fee and perform a full blown IR survey and and energy audit service (with a blower door)

The FLIR C-2 will work well for #1. If you're looking to do more in depth comprehensive stuff like in #2 you will want to upgrade to a different IR camera with higher resolution and more features.

I have a Flir E4 modified to a E8 Plus . I like it alot.
A lot less money than the E8.

NEW FLIR E4 (Upgraded to E8+). This FLIR E4 thermal Imager has been upgraded to E8+ specifications. The resolution has been upgraded to 320 x 240 (originally 80 x 60) which is the same resolution as the FLIR E8. The menu has also been upgraded to give a wider range of options.
